A TikTok video showing brilliant behind the scenes footage of President Michael D Higgins during an RTE interview has gone viral for one specific reason.
Over 120,000 people have viewed the clip on the video sharing platform as one of the President's dogs Misneach is seen playfully chewing on his hand as he begs for attention.
The videos shows President Higgins standing at an RTE News microphone during an interview celebrating the life of actor Tom Hickey whose death was announced on Sunday.
Misneach was out of shot during the RTE TV package however the President's social media handler caught the perfect behind the scenes shot to upload to TikTok.
Misneach, who joined the presidential dog family earlier this year, pawed at Higgins' hand in the clip before playfully biting at his hand and jacket.
Thousands of followers liked and shared the clip of the 6 month old Bernese mountain dog with hundreds heaping praise on the President and his dog. "Never work with children and animals. This made me smile so much," said one user. Another wrote: "I actually love this man. I would love to meet him some day,"
The President has been posting videos to his TikTok channel PresidentIRL since 2019 and features a number of behind the scenes clips including Higgins' second dog Brod and former dog Sioda.
