A popular TikTok creator who made videos about hairstyling has died after being shot in Florida. Maurice Harrison, who used the name Girlalala online, was only 21 years old. Police have arrested her boyfriend and charged him with first-degree murder.
According to Unilad, the shooting happened in Lauderdale Lakes. Police got a call about a medical emergency around 7 p.m. and found Harrison in the front passenger seat of a car with gunshot wounds. Paramedics took her to a nearby hospital, but doctors were not able to save her.
Police arrested 25-year-old Shanoyd Whyte Jr. at the scene and found a gun. Investigators say Whyte Jr. told them he and Harrison had been dating for several years. According to the sheriff’s office, the couple got into an argument inside Whyte Jr.’s car that started with words but then became physical before the shooting took place. Whyte Jr. is now in jail without the option of bail.
This wasn’t just some random tragedy
Harrison had become well known on social media for her work with wigs and hair. She had almost 300,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram combined. The young woman from Pompano Beach loved creating videos that showed off her bright and creative hairstyles.
She and Whyte Jr. often posted videos together on her pages, where they would go on dates, give each other gifts, and do popular TikTok challenges.
Police say they have video footage from a Tesla door camera that apparently captured the argument and the shooting as it happened. Detectives are still working to figure out all the details of what led to the tragedy. While Harrison was known for her fun and creative approach to hair styling, the hairdressing industry has seen its share of controversial moments, though nothing compares to this tragic loss.

People who followed Harrison online were shocked and upset when they heard the news. Rapper JT from the group City Girls gave $5,000 to help pay for the funeral. She wrote a message on Instagram saying: “Rest beautiful girlala! We love you & Heaven will never be boring now that you are there, your boldness, energy, humor & beauty will be missed! You never missed a chance to show me love & for that I’m forever grateful.”
Harrison’s family posted a message thanking everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time. They said they hope the person responsible faces full justice for what happened.
Other hairstylists on social media have also gained attention for their work, but Harrison’s family says her creativity and personality made her one of a kind. They will share information about the funeral service once everything is arranged.
