Tiger Woods congratulates Phil Mickelson for his ‘inspirational’ PGA Championship win

Phil Mickelson made history Sunday at the PGA Championship at Kiawah as he held on to win his sixth major championship and, at 50 years of age, became the oldest player to ever a win a major.

Mickelson had a wild final-round performance that had some really cool moments, including a sea of fans walking him up the 18th fairway after a very good approach shot basically sealed the victory.

Tiger Woods was watching from home in Florida where he’s recovering from his car accident back in February. Woods and Mickelson were rivals for years during the peak of their careers but have become more friendly with each other over recent years.

Tiger was impressed with Mickelson’s win on Sunday, as he tweeted:

That’s great to see. Tiger is right, too – Phil’s win was very inspirational. And really darn impressive.
