Members of the Oklahoma City Thunder organization volunteered Monday at a local emergency food pantry for babies and toddlers.
On the fourth annual Thunder Cares Day of Service, Thunder and Blues players and organizational staff helped pack diaper bags, organize clothes, label formula and give other assistance to Infant Crisis Services.
Infant Crisis Services provides supplies to help families with babies and toddlers in need. It expects to help more than 30,000 babies this year. Last year, it donated more than 750,000 diapers.
The organization donates to families around the state of Oklahoma.
“I think it’s something unique to the team and it shows how much the organization really cares about the community,” guard Chris Paul to Thunder website reporter Paris Lawson.
“Everyone comes out and supports us on any given night with their families or whatever it may be, so for us to be here and do our part is meaningful and well-needed.”
Every full-time employee in the organization was expected to participate in the community service event, resulting in more than 200 volunteers, according to the Thunder.
Oklahoma City (37-23) returns to the court Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers (41-19) at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
