Thug turned up at home of woman, 87, and stabbed her in the back

A woman who bombarded an 87-year-old with phone calls before stabbing her at her home in a drunken rage has been jailed.

Laura Parry, 58, of Ella Grove, Knutsford, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Thursday (April 20) where she was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to a section 18 assault and possession of a knife.

The court heard how Parry began to bombard the victim, who has not been named, with abusive phone calls at around 9am on December 6, 2022. During these calls, she threatened the elderly woman and suggested she would turn up at her house with a knife.

Following numerous other threats, Parry then attended the victim’s address heavily intoxicated at 10.30am on the same morning armed with a large, silver knife.

She entered the victim’s address and struck the woman in the back, causing her to fall to the floor. The elderly woman reported initially believing she had only been punched in the incident.

After getting to her feet, the court heard how the victim was able to remove the knife from Parry before discarding it outside. A neighbour who heard the disturbance then rang the victim before calling the police.

Laura Perry, 58, has been jailed after stabbing an elderly woman at a house in Knutsford (Cheshire Constabulary)

The victim was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital where she received treatment for her injuries. She thankfully did not receive life-threatening injuries.

Detective Constable Jamie Roberts, who led the investigation, said: “The victim in this case is a vulnerable elderly woman who has tried her best to support the victim.

“Despite all her efforts, Parry attended the address that day intent on harming the woman and showed no regard for the impact that her actions would have.

“Thankfully, because of pure chance, the victim did not sustain life threatening injuries and she continues to recover from the attack.

“However, while her wounds have now healed, she will never be able to forget what happened that day. Although, I do hope that the swift conclusion of the case, and the sentence handed to Parry, will provide her with some closure.”
