Throwback Thursday: A look back at the iconic East Kilbride Dollan Aqua Centre

The Aqua Centre, designed by Alexander Buchanan Campbell, is an A-listed building by Historic Scotland. Aside from the impressive building, it has been the place East Kilbride locals have made their first splash on a swimming lesson.

After decades of serving clubs, athletes and natives the centre was shut in 2008 to allow structural repairs after temporary support beams were put in place.

Repair work also took place in July 2009 and the Aqua Centre two years later after £9million worth of repair work.

Last month, the town was devastated after the famous viewing window looking into the pool was smashed by vandals.
