Three things we learned as Rangers confirm their new leading man with classy Hearts blitz

Rangers have strolled to an impressive 4-0 win over Hearts at Tynecastle as they go top of the league.

Antonio Colak made it 10 and 11 goals for the season inside 30 devastating minutes against the side third in the Premiership. First he glanced an excellent header beyond Craig Gordon following a Scott Arfield cross and doubled Rangers' lead by finishing off an excellent team goal.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men were criticised for their performances in September but this was an emphatic return to form away at one of the division's top teams. Hearts' Cammy Devlin all but ended the game as a contest with a crazy challenge on Rabbi Matondo to cap off a dismal 45 minutes for his team. Rangers now sit top of the league ahead of Celtic taking on Motherwell later on Saturday after Alfredo Morelos came off the bench to finish off scoring with a fine low strike on top of a Ryan Kent blast. Here are three things we learned from the match.

Clinical Colak

Summer recruitment has been scrutinised at Rangers but there can be no doubts over Colak's early impact.

He's scored big goals in big matches and already sits on double figures. Colak is clearly loving life in Glasgow and is now undoubtedly their leading man, leaving previous figure Morelos with a fight on his hands.

Answering critics

Three sore defeats in September were tough to take for Rangers and a 2-1 win over Dundee United did little to quell fan fears over performance levels.

Even before the red card, the Light Blues were well in control here and showed the levels they can get to domestically.

Got your number

This fixture has been a happy hunting ground for Rangers. Outside two wins for Daniel Stendel in 2020, the Light Blues are undefeated in the other 18 previous meetings over the last 20.

It didn't really look in doubt from early doors as the away team set a high tempo their hosts couldn't get to grips with.
