Three teenagers appear in court in connection with death of Cork student Cameron Blair

Three male teenagers – including a 14-year-old – appeared in court yesterday charged with offences relating to the death of Cameron Blair.

The 20-year-old student died at Cork University Hospital on January 16 after allegedly being stabbed in the neck at a party at Bandon Road on the southside of the city.

The 14-year-old, who is the subject of agreed bail conditions, appeared at Cork Juvenile Court accused of violent disorder and producing an article capable of inflicting serious harm.

The court heard the DPP has directed the case be sent for trial at the Central Criminal Court.

At Cork District Court, a book of evidence was served on an 18-year-old facing the same charges and he was also sent for trial at the Central Criminal Court.

While it is legally permissible to do so, he is not being named because of the likelihood of identifying his two co-accused who are under 18. He was released on bail.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old previously charged with murder will face trial at the Central Criminal Court.

He will remain in detention in Oberstown until his next court appearance.
