Three people taken to hospital after two-car smash in Ashton

Three people were taken to hospital following a crash involving two cars in Ashton. 

Police were called to Beaufort Road at around 7.45pm on Friday night to reports of a collision between a Ford Focus and an Alfa Romeo.

Pictures from the scene show one of the vehicles ended in a garden after ploughing through a hedge.

The force of the smash resulted in the engine from one of the cars being flung several metres down the road.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) say the driver and a passenger of the Alfa Romeo attended hospital as a precaution.

A passenger travelling in the Ford attended hospital with minor injuries.

Beaufort Road, at the junction of Montague Road, was closed for several hours following the crash while the cars were recovered.

GMP say no arrests have been made.
