Three people have been rushed to hospital following a serious road traffic crash involving two cars this afternoon.

Emergency services raced to the scene around 2:45pm on Newlands Road in the south side of the city.

Photos from the scene showed one of the cars lying flipped on its roof on the pavement with the other vehicle badly damaged and facing the wrong way on the street nearby.

The two women and one man were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Police say the road remains closed at Kintore Road.
