Three people have died in two separate crashes on Northern Territory roads in the past 24 hours, including a 10-year-old boy.

The boy was a passenger in a four-wheel drive vehicle with several other children when it rolled on Groote Eylandt about 1:30pm yesterday.

After the rollover, the 52-year-old driver was arrested and flown to hospital in Darwin where he was treated for minor injuries.

Forensic officers forensically examined the crash site, and the man has since been charged with driving a motor vehicle causing death, four counts of recklessly endangering life, and driving unlicensed.

Meanwhile, a man and a woman in their 40s died after rolling their car north-west of Alice Springs this morning.

Police said they received reports of the rollover on Kintore Road east of Papunya, about 6:30am.

The pair were found dead at the scene.

NT Police said major crash investigations detectives were trying to ascertain whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.

In a statement, Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said both crashes were "tragic".

"Both crashes … will impact upon many people, including family and friends," Senior Sergeant Lindner said.

"No-one should have to spend Christmas grieving the loss of a loved one. Please take extra care on the road."
