Three more people have died from Covid-19 in Greater Manchester's hospitals

Three more people have died with coronavirus in Greater Manchester's hospitals.

It means the region's hospital death toll now stands at 2,548, according to the latest NHS figures.

All three deaths were recorded at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

There have now been 260 deaths at the region's hospitals during October.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Monday, October 26 is:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 272
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 519
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 644
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 215
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 245
  • Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 314
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 15
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 309

On Monday it emerged Greater Manchester had recorded its highest weekly coronavirus infection rate since the start of the pandemic.

There were 592.5 cases per 100,000 people in Oldham, in the week leading up to October 21.

That is the largest number recorded in any of the region’s 10 boroughs since March - although it is important to note that community testing has increased since then.

The previous highest was the city of Manchester with 583.5 on October 3.

Across the country the average infection rate is now 207.5.

On Monday a further 91 coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in hospitals in England.

It brings the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 31,910, NHS England said.

Patients were aged between 44 and 95.

All had known underlying health conditions.
