Three Edinburgh restaurants have made it into the Good Food Guide's top 50

Three eateries from Edinburgh have made it into the latest edition of the Good Food Guide's Top 50 restaurants from across the UK.

The guide has been reviewing restaurants, pubs and cafés each year since 1951, with each edition being rewritten from scratch.

It uses reviews from readers as well as anonymous experts inspecting each establishment. The full 2020 guide will be published on Thursday this week.

Here are the three from Edinburgh which made it into the top 50:

The Kitchin

(Daily Record)

Coming in at number 25 on the Good Food Guide is The Kitchin, the well-established restaurant from Tom Kitchin in Leith.

It opened in 2006 and the Commercial Quay eatery has picked up many awards since then.

Tom offers the finest Scottish seasonal produce at The Kitchin - his mantra is "from nature to plate."

Another of his restaurants, Southside Scran, didn't make the top 50 but is also mentioned in the Good Food Guide.

Restaurant Martin Wishart

Another fine dining establishment in Leith, Restaurant Martin Wishart came in at number 46 in the Good Food Guide.

Like The Kitchen it's Michelin starred, and has gathered many accolades since opening in 1999.

Martin Wishart's restaurant delivers the finest in French cuisine using Scottish ingredients.

It's located at The Shore and you can find out more here.

Castle Terrace

Coming in at number 50 is Castle Terrace, located in the city centre street of the same name.

Dominic Jack's restaurant, which is linked with The Kitchin, underwent a refurbishment this year and is nestled underneath Edinburgh Castle.

They have a fine French menu using the best Scottish produce, with vegetarian and pre-theatre options.
