Afternoon Update: Three dead in WA seaplane crash; California wildfire destroys homes; and a gripe about thumbs-up emojis

Three bodies have been recovered from waters off WA tourist destination Rottnest Island after a seaplane crashed shortly after takeoff on Tuesday.

The premier, Roger Cook, confirmed today that the victims were a Perth resident and two tourists, believed to be from Switzerland and Denmark. The seven passengers on board included three couples, with a Swiss man and Danish woman among the four survivors airlifted to hospital.
