In the wake of Wednesday’s shootings in Lewiston, Maine and the ensuing investigation surrounding them, three Division III football games have been postponed.
The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced Friday afternoon that a trio of games scheduled to be played in Maine on Saturday have been moved to Nov. 18 “due to the ongoing investigation and following the tragic events” in the state’s second-largest city. The decision was announced before authorities said they had found suspect Robert Card dead on Friday evening.
Games affected include Williams College’s game against Bates College in Lewiston, Trinity College’s game at Bowdoin College (in Brunswick, 20 miles from Lewiston), and Middlebury College’s game at Colby College (in Waterville, 54 miles from Lewiston).
Maine, the state’s sole Division I football program, will play Albany at home on Saturday, over 100 miles north of Lewiston.

On Wednesday, 18 people were killed and 13 injured in two mass shootings at a bowling alley and restaurant in Lewiston.
Police undertook a massive manhunt for Card, a 40-year-old Army reservist, and found him deceased Friday of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound, per The Associated Press.
