Thor Bjornsson open to fight with Martyn Ford after Eddie Hall clash

Thor Bjornsson would be open to a potential clash with Martyn Ford after he settles his rivalry with Eddie Hall in Dubai this weekend.

Bjornsson has fought in the boxing ring three times in recent months taking part in exhibitions against Steven Ward and Simon Valily before stopping arm wrestler Devon Larratt in the opening round last September. He will now take to the ring in his huge grudge match with Hall which will take place tonight at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.

And Bjornsson could look to return to the boxing ring in the future against Hall's friend Ford, but is unwilling to enter discussions until his test against Hall is complete. “I am open to it one hundred percent," Bjornsson told Mirror Fighting about returning to the ring.

"I am not getting any younger so it would have to make sense and it would have to be sooner rather than later. I am not going to be thinking about names but someone asked me before if I would fight Martyn Ford. He is a friend of Eddie Hall and as you know I am focused on Eddie right now.

"I am definitely open to discuss something versus him if the opportunity were there. But I am not discussing that right now because I want to focus on Eddie one hundred percent. I want the whole world to see this fight and see me win. That is why I was so happy they decided to do it for free for fans.”

Ford has been long-term friends with Hall and has backed Bjornsson's rival to tear him a "new stomach" in their upcoming heavyweight clash. The 'World's Scariest Man' is currently preparing to face Iranian Hulk- real named Sajad Gharibi- in a huge celebrity boxing card at The O2 arena next month.

He similarly shares a grudge with his Iranian opponent and has been preparing hard alongside professional fighters to make his debut in the boxing ring. Ford has experience in MMA training and previously signed for Polish promotion KSW which suggests he sees a future in fighting, and is similarly open to opportunities if they arise.

“Yeah 100 per cent," Ford said. "For me the MMA is something I want to test myself in and I have already spoken to KSW and that is something they are more than happy to link in. I love the idea of the Boxstar so if it is a collaboration, one on and one off. We will see what comes but there is definitely growth for me in both areas. As long as I can get the opponents I feel like I have four or five years of sharpness in me."
