Thomas Partey reacts on Instagram ahead of finalising £45m Arsenal transfer

Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

football.london understands the Ghana international has completed the bulk of his medical in Madrid and has arrived in London to finalise his £45m transfer.

Speaking after his side's 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Sunday, Mikel Arteta admitted the club would push to complete some last-minute deals.

James Benge provides Thomas Partey medical update and latest transfer news

"Believe me, the ownership and the board and doing everything they can to maximise the resources and make this club successful," he said. "I have 100 per cent backing for them. Whatever we can do, they are willing to do it, to support us.

"Whatever we can add of course we will do it. But we have to be realistic. The people here are supportive."

Whilst a number of Arsenal supporters are getting excited about the prospect of the 27-year-old arriving to bolster the midfield options at the Emirates Stadium, Partey has managed to remain tight-lipped amid all the rumours.

Although, he did take to social media ahead of travelling to London.

Partey posted two images of him in the new Ghana kits on Instagram with a three-word message that reads: "New Ghana kits," accompanied with the fire emoji.

Spanish football expert, Alvaro Montero, has not only said that he believes the transfer will be confirmed before the 11pm deadline, but also that Partey will be a great signing for the Gunners.

"I think he’s one of the best midfielders in Europe. He’s a typical midfielder, he defends, he attacks and he has some sort of goal, a typical Premier League player, box-to-box," Montero told Sky Sports. "I think he’s going to be a very good transfer for Arsenal, for sure.

"A good investment, because I think he’s going to be a fabulous player.

"For example, Simeone wants him to play for Atletico Madrid, he has counted on him in the last three games, especially in the line-up in the last two.

"Now, it seems, he’s going to be the future for Arsenal."
