Thomas Muller gives cheeky verdict over Tottenham's Harry Kane’s poor England form

Harry Kane’s poor form at Euro 2020 continues to be debated by pundits and fans alike.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker has so far failed to find his best displays for England at the tournament having turned in a few sketchy performances throughout the group stage.

The hitman has thus far failed to find the net at the tournament and was substituted by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate in two of the three group games against Croatia and Scotland.

Indeed, since England secured their place at the tournament, Kane has only managed to net two goals in his last 12 outings for his country - a complete contrast to his club form having found the net 33 times throughout the 2020/21 season on route to a third Premier League golden boot.

With England set to take on Germany in the last-16 of Euro 2020 at Wembley Stadium, Germany forward Thomas Muller has weighed in on Kane’s inconsistent showings.

He has admitted that he has not yet managed to find an answer to a lack of goals but is cheekily hoping that conundrum continues on Tuesday as the two nations clash.

Talking in a pre-match press conference, the Bayern Munich man said: “I don't know why he hasn't got into the final positions that he usually gets in.

“We wouldn't mind if it lasts until Wednesday and we don't concede a goal.”

Kane’s goal drought for his country is not actually an unusual occurrence having also gone spells of six and seven games without a strike previously.

However, it is somewhat perplexing that it has hit during a major tournament after he claimed the 2018 World Cup golden boot with six strikes in Russia.

Meanwhile, 105-capped Muller is also in the midst of a goal drought for Die Mannschaft having not scored in a major international tournament since Germany’s 2014 World Cup success.
