This New All Carbon Motorcycle Helmet is Called the Dragon, and Yeah, It's Dope

LS2 has always had a bit of an underdog vibe. It doesn’t have the same decades of racing heritage as some of the bigger European names, but that’s part of why it’s interesting. The brand came out of Spain in the early 2000s and, in just over twenty years, has gone from being a newcomer to one of the most widely recognized helmet makers in the world.

Its formula has always been simple: make gear that’s safe, stylish, and affordable, while pushing technology down to a level that’s within reach for everyday riders. That accessibility is a big reason why LS2 has carved out a loyal following, myself included.

My first helmet was an LS2 Stream Evo, and over the years I’ve owned a few more: the Rapid, the Pioneer, and the Strobe. Each one served me well in different phases of my riding life, from daily commutes to weekend trail rides. I still break out the Rapid when I’m doing short city runs, and it continues to remind me why I stuck with LS2 in the first place—dependable helmets that just work.

That’s why the Dragon caught my eye. It feels like the culmination of everything LS2 has been building toward.

The Dragon sits at the top of LS2’s full-face lineup and shows just how far the company has come. Its shell is made from 6K carbon fiber, giving it both strength and lightness, with weight coming in around 3.2 pounds (1,450g). LS2 builds it in three different shell sizes, which means the helmet scales proportionally, whether you wear a small or a 3XL. That detail might not sound flashy, but it translates to better fit and, ultimately, better protection.

On the road, LS2 says that the Dragon is impressively quiet. Riders who’ve spent time with it highlight how stable it feels at highway speeds, with the spoiler and shell shaping cutting through turbulence rather than fighting it. That makes long rides easier on your neck and helps you stay focused when you’re pushing harder on a sportbike. Ventilation comes from carbon-reinforced chin, top, and rear vents, ensuring consistent airflow without adding a lot of wind noise.

Practicality hasn’t been overlooked either. The Dragon ships with both clear and dark visors, along with a Pinlock 120 MaxVision insert to keep fogging under control. There’s also an internal sun visor you can drop with one hand. The liner is made of X-Static fabric that’s hypoallergenic, antibacterial, removable, and washable. It’s also shaped to play nice with glasses and is Bluetooth-ready if you run a comm system.

Safety-wise, the Dragon meets the latest ECE 22.06 certification, and it uses a multi-density EPS liner paired with a double-D ring strap—tried and true elements that riders trust. Put together, the Dragon brings race-level construction into a helmet that’s built for everyday use.

So why does this matter? Because helmets are one of the most personal pieces of gear a rider owns. For me, LS2 has been part of my motorcycling journey from the very start. Seeing the Dragon evolve into something that goes toe-to-toe with high-end lids shows that the brand isn’t just making affordable helmets anymore. It’s producing serious kit that delivers on performance, comfort, and safety without forgetting the everyday rider.

And that makes the Dragon worth paying attention to.
