This Morning's Ruth Langsford shuts down fashion critics in scathing on-air rant

This Morning host Ruth Langsford hit out at at so called 'fashion police' right at the start of Thursday's show, in a rant that won her the admiration of viewers.

Ruth and husband and presenting partner in crime Eamonn Holmes are now right at the end of their stint as main presenters of the much loved ITV daytime show, having covered for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby over their lengthy summer break.

Eamonn and Ruth's time at the helm of This Morning has delighted fans who are still smarting from them losing their usual Friday slot to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary at the end of last year.

And, a day after Eamonn left her in tears, forcing her to apologise to producers as she struggled to regain composure, Ruth had some choice words for style critics who call out women for being 'too old' to wear certain things.

Previewing what was coming up on the show, Eamonn teased an appearance from chef Rachel Ama who was ready to serve up a 'vegan feast,' before Ruth told those watching at home that stylist Kat Farmer was also coming up, saying: "She's going to show you how to look perfect whatever your age."

The camera then cut to Kat, who said: "I am here to prove that age is just a number and you can where whatever you want at any age.

"We're here to bust some myths."

Turning to Eamonn, Ruth then fumed: "Who are these fashion police? Who say you shouldn't wear a short skirt over 50; you shouldn't wear this, you shouldn't wear that.

"Who are these fashion police?!"

Right behind Ruth and wishing her and Eamonn were a permanent fixture on This Morning, one viewer tweeted: "Going to miss Ruth & Eammon. He gets himself in trouble, so funny when he said things about big that big cheek woman.

"Eammon and Ruth should be made permanent so experienced and loved. Very popular."
