This Morning's Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby share frustration at why they still can't hug

This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were left frustrated at still not being able to hug each other on the show, despite restrictions easing in the UK.

On Monday, as wells as bars, restaurants, cinemas and indoor play areas being able to open indoors again, rules on people hugging each other were also loosened, although Brits have advised to still exercise caution when it comes to physical contact.

But Phillip and Holly, who even used a plastic 'cuddle curtain' to hug last year, revealed to This Morning viewers at the start of Monday's show that they still weren't able to share an embrace, due to a big rule still in place.

Before they were joined by three of the Mamma Mia cast to mark the re-opening of theatres this week, Phillip began the show episode by saying: "Holly and I will have to wait a bit longer for our first hug because hugging isn't permitted in the workplace."

Holly replied: "So rubbish!" before asking her co-host: "geographically we can't hug here?"

Phillip replied: "Well we're outside but this is still a workplace so what do you do?"

Gesturing at her with open arms, Phillip added: "Sending it over. Won't be long!"

Assuming that Phillip and Holly would be able to hug, one cynical This Morning viewer took to Twitter to post: "don’t think I can cope with Phillip and holly ( specially Phillip) almost in tears acting like they have been in prison and it’s release day"

Equally negative, another equally negative Twitter user posted: "Watch Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning tomorrow ‘hugging for the first time in over a year’ whilst crying and over exaggerating about it as if they haven’t hugged whilst it wasn’t allowed anyway."
