This Morning's Eamonn Holmes horrifies fans with bacon cooking confession

Eamonn Holmes horrfied This Morning viewers today as he confessed how he cooked bacon.

The discussion about the best way to cook bacon was sparked after chef James Martin led a segment on Bank Holiday barbecuing.

After James served up cabbage, leeks and cauliflower on his barbecue, Eamonn said he never expected so many vegetables could be cooked al fresco - reports Mirror Online.

And that's when his wife Ruth Langsford outed his unusual cooking method, as she said: "You microwaved bacon the other day!"

Eamonn said : "And?"

Ruth continued: "I came downstairs and thought 'What is this horrible smell?'. And did you see the fat splattering inside?"

Eamonn said: "Ah! But I know how to do that now. You put a tissue over the top it and it keeps it all down.

"It tastes fine!"

The camera then cut back to James Martin's house in Hampshire where the chef was shaking his head in disgust.

Many baffled viewers at home took Ruth and James' side and voiced their disgust at Eamonn's big breakfast habit.

One said: "No no no @EamonnHolmes Bacon in a microwave wave is just wrong WRONG WRONG."

A second said: "Oh @EamonnHolmes, you could never do anything wrong in my eyes, but bacon in the microwave? Seriously?! @RuthieeL, I feel your pain."

And a third said: "Bacon in the microwave ugh, very rubbery?"

However, some viewers said they agreed with Eamonn, saying the method was quicker and cleaner.

One said: "We are with you we microwave bacon! It’s far better and doesn’t stink the house out like frying!"

And another said: "I always microwave bacon and eggs...less mess."

As the row erupted on social media, Eamonn, Ruth and James continued the debate on This Morning.

Eamonn said he had resorted to the microwave as Ruth was so particular about cleaning the kitchen.

He said: "My wife goes round that kitchen... there can be no mess. So I stuck it in the microwave."

Ruth said: "You cook everything on high heat and splat fat everywhere."

Eamonn then said a viewer had alerted him to a device that helped bacon cook in the microwave.

But James said: "Stay away from the shopping channels."
