This Morning's Alison and Dermot leave viewers feeling cheated with 'shock' appearance

'Cheated' This Morning viewers got a bit of a shock when they tuned into the show on Monday and were greeted by a presenting duo they weren't expecting to see.

It's traditional for regular hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to take a break during the school holidays, with the presenters off at the minute for the Easter break.

Last year it was confirmed that Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary would be taking over from Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on Fridays, with Eamonn and Ruth being called on for holiday cover.

That's exactly what they did last week, as they fronted the programme Monday-Friday, so many This Morning fans were fully expecting to see them at the helm once again on Monday.

However, they were nowhere to be seen when another stand-in, Lorraine replacement Ranvir Singh, crossed over to the studio to find out what coming up, only to be welcomed by Alison and Dermot, not Eamonn and Ruth.

One immediately took to Twitter to rant: "Where are Eamonn and Ruth today? Just put the TV, switched straight off! Feel cheated, thought they were on during school holidays?"

Echoing those sentiments, another tweeted: "Is it half term? Where is Eamonn and Ruth?" and a third reacted: "They said when they took Eamonn & Ruth off Fridays that they’d be doing school holidays. Well it’s still school holidays. Where are they?"

Alison and Dermot had a busy show, with them opening proceedings at a pop-up pub to mark the easing of lockdown restrictions, with Chumbawumba's drinking anthem Tubthumping blasting in the background.

They also spoke to viewers who were excited about rules relaxing to do everything from getting married to enjoying a much needed spa day and crossed live to Skegness to see Josie Gibson enjoy a ride as an amusement park re-opened after months of being shut.
