This Morning host Phillip Schofield grossed out by caller's 16 year secret

Phillip Schofield and viewers at home were seriously grossed out by a confession made by a This Morning caller during a phone-in on Thursday's show.

And it was all to do with a shocking 16 year secret about a tuna sandwich!

Phillip and co-host Holly Willoughby led the talk-in titled 'Caught Red Handed' and the first caller, Mel, had an ridiculously bizarre admission about something she'd done to her husband.

She said: "He wanted a tuna sandwich and we were short of money at the time. And my cat came first so I'd given the last tin of tuna to the cat."

As guest Vanessa Feltz's eyes widened and she started to grimace, Mel continued: "And on doing that he said 'ooh can I have a tuna sandwich?'

"So I quickly grabbed it away from the cat, rinsed it under the cold tap and chucked it in his sandwich and nothing!"

As a started Phillip sat up straight in disbelief, he questioned: "Ermmm when did you tell him?"

And it was her answer that was perhaps the most shocking part of the story as Mel then revealed: "About two years ago at a family get together after I had too many glasses of wine," before adding that was 16 years after the incident!

Vanessa then asked: "How did he take it?" to which Mel said her husband gave her the silent treatment for a while as a result.

Viewers at homer were equally taken aback, with one tweeting: "This woman talking about taking the tuna back from the cat whilst it's eating it & rinsing it and feeding to her husband in a sandwich is vile.

"The cat comes first upset my stomach thinking about it. Disgusting."
