This Morning fans spot awkward moment between Phillip and 'smiling' Ruth amid Holly 'feud'

This Morning fans noticed an 'awkward' moment between Ruth Langsford and Phillip Schofield on the programme today.

Loose Women host Ruth, 63, appeared on a link on This Morning to promote the lunchtime panel show and tell viewers what they had coming up.

Ruth, who used to host This Morning alongside husband Eamonn Holmes before a presenter shake-up, greeted Phil, 61, and Holly Willoughby before telling viewers what the Loose Women were set to discuss today.

Although some viewers couldn't help but notice an awkward moment during the link amid Phil and Holly's reported feud.

As Phil introduced Ruth, he said: "Let's find out what the Loose Women have today it's Ruth, hiya."

Ruth replied: "Hiya, coming up our reaction to this year's Eurovision, can you guess who the superfan is here? And we've got two guests today, actress and Judi's comedy mentor Gina Yashere. Gina's talking about making it in Hollywood.

"Also, I'm A Celebrity... South Africa's Phil Tufnell tells us why he wanted to return to the jungle. And it's going to be a totes hilar show isn't it Janet?"

Janet Street-Porter dryly replied: "Obvs," the audience giggled and Ruth went on: "We're discussing our most loved and most hated abbreviations – RB... RBBRB," Ruth pulls a confused face and adds: "Back right after this?"

The camera cut to an image of Holly and Phil alongside Ruth as Holly said: "Ah I was trying to work out what that was," as Phil interrupted: "See you later," while Ruth was seen waving at the camera and giving a smile to the camera.

Viewers noticed Ruth's expression at the end of the live link, with some calling it "smug".

One wrote: "Ruth looking rather smug....and rightly so, she knew all along! #ThisMorning".

Another added: "Ruth moving on swiftly with that rictus grin on her face" and a third penned: "Ruth’s eye speak a million words #ThisMorning".

And a fourth wrote: "Ruth’s smile is making me cackle, she’s loving the downfall of Schofe, she’s gonna take a front row seat #ThisMorning".

Phil and Holly, 42, are said to be locked in a feud, with reports their friendship has cooled in recent months. The pair have been hit with a series of issues including being falsely accused of skipping the queue to see the Queen lying in state.

Holly is then said to have felt upset that she wasn't told of Phillip's brother Timothy Schofield's trial ahead of time, during which Phil took time away from This Morning.

Phillip late addressed the claims in a statement, where he said things "haven't been easy" but called Holly his "rock".

But, the statement is said to have "blindsided" and "upset" Holly with both the presenter and ITV bosses thinking the statement "made things worse".

Despite rumours of ongoing tension, Phillip has decided to "tough it out" but fans are still speculating over Phillip's future.

Ruth's apparent facial expression comes after she had her own issues with Phillip as the pair are said to have began feuding in 2019.

Ruth reportedly filed a complaint against Phillip and it followed an on air incident in April 2019, which saw him interrupt her while she was presenting a preview of Loose Women during an episode of This Morning.

And in 2022, her husband and co-presenter Eamonn Holmes spoke out against Phil over his apparent ''passive aggressive'' manner as he took aim at ITV following his exit.

Speaking about their time on This Morning, Eamonn said: "Phillip is renowned for snubbing people.

"He's very passive-aggressive. It's up to Ruth to say how she felt, but I was feeling hurt for her. No one would have snubbed me like that.

"I have a good Belfast street fighter in me… I would be direct. I don't go for presenters who think they have a special privilege or aura or influence."
