This Morning fans 'cringe' over performance of Strictly Ballroom from Maisie Smith and Kevin Clifton

ITV This Morning fans said they were left 'cringing' over a Strictly Ballroom performance on the show which included the likes of former Strictly Come Dancing pro Kevin Clifton and ex-EastEnders star Maisie Smith. The duo were on the ITV show on Friday (November 11) and they were speaking to hosts Alison and Dermot about their latest roles.

Craig Revel Horwood, the director of the latest version of Baz Lurhman's musical, brought Kevin and Maisie together - and Craig joined them on the This Morning sofa. But some fans weren't impressed when Maisie and Kevin went on to perform on the show with their fellow Strictly Ballroom cast, reports the Manchester Evening News.

@susie_retro tweeted: "Please stop it with the ****** musicals #ThisMorning I can't take anymore." @dhawke50 asked: "Can this show get anymore nauseating? #ThisMorning." @Samanth22356123 commented: "Why am I cringe giggling at this?! #ThisMorning." @littlebecca96x added: "So cringe, doesn't even sound good #Thismorning."

Others, however, were full of praise, especially for Kevin. @martingaming15 posted: "#ThisMorning WHAT! Kevin Clifton can sing! @thismorning." @Foldingstars295 tweeted: “Wow the Strictly Ballroom cast on #ThisMorning that was amazing!!! Made me realise how much I miss live musical theatre."

Maisie, who competed in Strictly 2020 alongside now-boyfriend Max George, has taken on the role of enthusiastic beginner Fran. Meanwhile, Kevin, who appeared on the BBC One dance contest from 2013 to 2019, plays the role of hero Scott Hastings in the reimaging of Baz Luhrmann's award-winning global film phenomenon and the nationwide tour kicked off back in September.
