This Morning fans cringe as Alison Hammond's phone rings during emotional phone-in

This Morning fans were left cringing as host Alison Hammond’s phone started ringing as a caller opened up during an emotional phone-in.

Alison was forced to apologise as her phone started ringing while caller Lily said she has been feeling unsupported after giving birth to her newborn daughter seven weeks ago.

Lily told This Morning agony aunt Deidre during the segment that she has been shunning friends and family and asking them not to come to her home as she feels “judged” after her “traumatic” emergency cesarean birth.

She said: “I tried to reach out to my midwife, and she was going to get me in touch with some charities, but I’ve since been discharged from the midwife and haven’t heard anything.”

In the studio, Deidre replied: “You sound to me as though you’re rather post-natally depressed.

“I’m rather shocked that being discharged from midwife means you’re just sort of dumped and you’re not being given ongoing care. I think that’s terrible.

“Do feel free to reach out to your GP and say you feel you’ve been rather abandoned and need some support.”

As Deidre offered caller Lily advice on the situation, Alison’s phone started loudly ringing, leaving her flustered as she pulled it from her pocket to quickly switch it off, saying: “I’m so sorry everybody. I’m so sorry.”

At the end of the segment, Alison apologised again, and co-host Dermot replied: “Don’t worry. It happens,” before he jokingly whispered: “Never let it happen again.”

This Morning fans were left cringing after the caller mishap and took to Twitter to comment on the moment, with one posting: “Oh, Alison! Why didn't you put your phone on silent?”

Another tweeted: “I’d have thought turning your phone off while presenting would be a NO BRAINER.”

A third chimed: “Classic Alison Hammond - phone rings during a serious phone in,” alongside a crying laughing emoji.

Another social media user wrote: “How does Alison not know to have her phone on silent? Like TV presenting 101.”

Another wrote: “Alison and her impeccable timing,” alongside a string of laughing emojis as another said: “Alison’s phone ringing is a complete Alisonism.”

Another posted: “Unprofessional klaxon,” as a second wrote: “Turn that phone off Alison.”

Elsewhere in the programme, The Morning viewers were left baffled as the ITV daytime programme seemed to switch a filter onto the broadcast for a Peaky Blinders segment, leaving many adjusting their television sets.

When the programme returned from an advertising break, co-hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary had turned dull with a faded filter.

Dermot and Alison pivoted to a Peaky Blinders fashion segment on the show and while they were busy looking at the clothes, fans were left baffled as neither of the presenters referenced the colour change.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
