This Morning fans baffled as Alice Beer gives 'mixed signals' at Windsor Castle

This Morning viewers were left baffled at the start of Friday's show as Alice Beer appeared outside Windsor Castle ahead of Prince Philip's funeral.

The Duke of Edinburhg's funeral will take place on Saturday afternoon at St George's Chapel within the ground of Windsor Castle.

The funeral has had to be down-scaled due to coronavirus restrictions and the public have been told to stay away.

Earlier this week John Story, mayor of Windsor and Maidenhead, described Saturday’s funeral as “a great honour” for the district but pointed out it will be taking place behind the walls of Windsor Castle as a result of Covid-19 concerns.

The funeral will be fully televised with select media and journalists allowed to watch the service from within Windsor Castle.

But This Morning viewers rushed to social media when they saw Alice reported from the castle while hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary spoke to her from the ITV studio.

The segment featured Alice speaking to two members of the public who visited Windsor to lay flowers at Windsor Castle.

Fans of the show were quick to point out that Alice thanked the couple for coming - while also encouraging people not to visit.

"Don't turn up and don't come... Says Alice beer stood outside Windsor couldn't make it up! #ThisMorning," tweeted one.

Another said: "Still sat here baffled over Alice going to Windsor, telling people not to come and then thanking those two for coming #thismorning."

"'Don’t turn up and don’t come' 'Thanks for coming' Alice sending massive mixed signals #thismorning," a third noted.

A fourth echoed: "Alice says dont come but says thanks for comming to the couple wtf was that about #ThisMorning."
