This lowlight reel of Mitch Trubisky’s wild throws will give Bears fans nightmares

With the NFL’s No. 1 defense due for some regression, the Bears were counting on Mitchell Trubisky to make the leap in 2019 in order for the team to carry over the momentum it had built up in 2018.

Well, Trubisky has not taken that leap forward. In fact, the third-year quarterback seems to have taken a few major steps backward, and things have only gotten worse after he returned from an injury that knocked him out for nearly a month.

Over his last three games, all losses for the Bears, Trubisky has completed 60.1% of his passes for an average of 5.7 yards per attempt. He’s thrown only one interception, but he’s found the end zone just twice over the last three weeks. The numbers are bad, but I don’t know if they really capture how poorly Trubisky has played. This lowlight video, set to “Yakkety Saks,” should do the trick.

Mitchell Trubisky still has one more year left on his rookie contract. His $9.2 million salary in 2020 is fully guaranteed. His job as the Bears starting quarterback, however, is not.

At this point, the Bears season is likely over so it makes sense for the team to just ride things out with Trubisky and hope that he shows some improvement. Whether or not he does won’t change the fact that Chicago needs to kickstart its search for its next QB of the future. Trubisky, clearly, ain’t it.
