A tiny foal has been stolen from a field - and her heartbroken owners say she won’t survive without her mother.
Titch was last seen with her mum Bella at the six acre field in Pilsworth, Bury, on Friday afternoon.
But when owner Charlotte Turner returned to check on the horses the following morning, they found that the seven-week old foal had ‘disappeared into thin air’.
Her theft has been reported to police, but Charlotte and her mum Jeanette hope that someone will have enough conscience to return the little horse.
“We’d be happy for them to just leave her somewhere safe, or with a vet. There will be no consequences - we just want her back,” says
Shetland cross Titch was living in a field, off Moss Hall Road, with her mum Bella and grandmother Lulu - who Charlotte has owned since she was six-months-old.
Though the disappearance has been reported to police, Jeanette fears that officers will struggle to find the little horse, who is around the size of a large dog.
She says the fencing wire around the field was cut two weeks ago and the horses got out.
“When we went back that morning there were tractor tracks in the field.
“We understand that foals die but there would have been a body. There’s just nothing. She’s disappeared into thin air.
“We’ve been milking Bella to make sure she doesn’t go dry in case Titch is returned.
“She’s lost without her.
“She won’t survive without her mother unless someone knows how to hand rear a foal. But that’s especially hard when she’s been with her mother.
“She’s very cute. I don’t know if someone saw her and thought ‘this will be nice for my children’ and just didn’t know the consequences.
Jeanette added: “Charlotte is really upset. She was hoping that, after putting the appeal on Facebook, someone would have had a conscience and put her back in the field.
“It’s really hard because we keep going down there looking for her.”
