This is what the Met Office says Christmas Day weather will be like in Bristol

People hoping for a white Christmas are out of luck in Bristol after experts have predicted a snow-free day on December 25th.

Excited families are likely to wake up to a bit of rain on Christmas Day with downpours likely around 9pm, according to the Met Office's six-day forecast.

It will also be pretty cold, with feels like temperatures hovering around 2C for most of the morning.

After the big festive lunch is concluded, the mercury will climb slightly to around 8C, with feels like temperatures peaking at 5C at around 3pm.

Christmas Eve is set to be the best day of the week in Bristol, when the city will enjoy a dry and bright sunny day, with the thermometer rising to a seasonally warm 9C.

Speaking about the potential for a mild Christmas, a Met Office spokesman told the Mirror Online: "At the moment we can't be specific with it but it does look like, going by air flow, the temperatures will be slightly above average.

"We can't say at the moment that it will be anything record breaking, but certainly southern parts of the country will be milder than average."

The spokesman said average temperatures across the UK for Christmas Day could be as high as 7C.
