New Delhi: For the third consecutive year, the Tata Nexon has emerged as the largest-selling SUV in India, beating its Japanese and Korean rivals in FY24. The SUV has retained its numero uno position despite its sales taking a hit in August 2023 as the facelift model was about to be launched in September 2023.

The Tata Nexon recorded wholesales of 171,697 units in FY24, driving ahead of models like the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio. It was the best-selling SUV in FY22 and FY23 at 124,130 units and 172,139 units, respectively.

Tata Motors' SUV volumes were given a major boost in the last fiscal as the Tata Punch closely followed the Tata Nexon, selling 170,076 units.

The Tata Nexon's direct rival, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, garnered sales of 169,897 units in FY24, while the mid-size segment leader, the Hyundai Creta, was behind at 161,653 units. The Mahindra Scorpio, including N and Classic, recorded handsome volumes of 141,462 units in FY24.

The Tata Nexon is now priced between Rs 8.15 lakh and Rs 15.80 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers liked this SUV for its high safety standards, feature-loaded character and multiple powertrain options.

The Nexon is the third SUV after the Safari and the Harrier from the homegrown auto major, Tata Motors, to have scored a five-star safety rating in both adult occupant protection and child occupant protection categories at Global NCAP.

Talking about safety features, the Tata Nexon gets six airbags, 360-degree surround view system with front parking sensors, blind view monitor, electronic stability control (ESC) and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), among others.

The SUV boasts features like bi-functional LED headlamps with sequential LED DRLs, connected LED taillamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, ventilated front seats, two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, 10.25-inch infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, IRA 2.0 connectivity tech, capacitive touch panel, fully automatic climate control, navigation display on the instrument cluster and voice-assisted electric sunroof.

The Tata Nexon offers two engine options -- Revotron 1.2-litre turbo petrol (120PS/170Nm) and Revotorq 1.5-litre diesel (115PS/260Nm). The transmission options for the petrol unit include 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed AMT and 7-speed DCA. The diesel unit can be paired either with a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed AMT.
