KOCHI: Exactly a week after the new champions lay their hands on the ODI World Cup trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram will host a T20 international between India and Australia on November 26.
Australia’s limited-overs tour to India this year is sandwiched between the World Cup, with the ODIs to be played before the mega tournament and the T20Is to follow soon after the event concludes.
The match in Thiruvananthapuram will be the second of the five T20Is that will be played between the two nations. However, the participation of top players from both teams in the Thiruvananthapuram T20I will depend on how far the two teams progress in the World Cup.
The state capital benefitted from BCCI’s decision to compensate those venues that didn’t get a World Cup match by providing it with a game in the next home season.
Though the Greenfield stadium wouldn’t be hosting a World Cup game, the venue would be staging four warm-up games between September 29 and October 3.
The Greenfield stadium has hosted five international T20I matches with the last game being played between India and South Africa in September last year.
