Cops in East Kilbride are stepping up their investigations after a third car was deliberately torched in a Stewartfield street.
The incident happened around 12.40am on Saturday morning and is the third blaze in the space of three days – now officers are stepping up their efforts to catch those responsible.
We told you on Thursday how two cars were set alight in MacKenzie Gardens just after 12.30am that morning.
At the time, a police source suggested the fires happened in separate driveways – however, a statement on Saturday said those cars were parked in driveways at the same address.
Investigating officers were keen to identify two men seen fleeing the scene in a silver car who they believe are responsible.
In the early hours of Saturday morning a third car - a black Range Rover - was also set on fire. On both occasions, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fires safely.
There were no injuries and officers say they believe the incidents are linked.
Detective Sergeant Craig Melrose said: “Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of these reckless acts.
“This is the second incident at this address in a few days and we believe that these fires are linked.

“If you have any CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist us with our investigation, I would ask that you come forward and speak to police.
“I would also ask if anyone noticed anyone acting suspicious in the area that they get in contact with officers.”
