Thierry Henry and two Invincibles eye Arsenal takeover with Spotify billionaire Daniel Ek

Daniel Ek's Arsenal takeover bid could be on and it might just involve three Arsenal favourites.

Amid discontent among supporters with current owner Stan Kroenke, Spotify co-founder Ek was linked with taking over the Gunners after the Swedish billionaire declared an interest on Twitter.

On Friday night he wrote: "As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for @Arsenal as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring."

KSE say they have "no intention" of selling the club and with the club's worth now more than £2billion, Ek's £3billion or so net worth probably is not enough to make them an offer they cannot refuse.

But in a fresh twist, Ek is set to team up with three Arsenal invincibles in Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Viera in a joint bid to buy the club.

The Telegraph report tha all three are now involved in a possible takeover with the hope the presence of the Invincibles will put pressure on KSE to sell up, particularly given the fan discontent which led to mass protests on Friday.

Henry spoke out against the Kroenkes last week in an interview with the Telegraph, saying: "This club belongs to the fans, I love the club and I will support the club until I die, but I do not recognise my club and what happened just now, with them trying to join a league that would have been closed, makes no sense to me.

“They have been running the club like a company, not a football club, and they showed their hand. Maybe it’s a lack of understanding of the core football values and maybe the money was too big of a temptation. But whatever it was, they got it wrong. Badly wrong.”

And in a shock move, it seems he could now be in the running to buy the club as a minority partner along with billionaire Ek, who would likely need some financial help to get the deal done given Arsenal's value is more than half of his own net worth.

Nevertheless, the news is fresh hope for Arsenal fans who are desperate for new owners and desperate to have a palpable connection with those who run the club, particularly after The Super League saga which left them feeling more distant from the decision-makers than ever.
