Dog dies after fire at semi-detached home in Neath

A dog has died after a house fire in Neath.

South Wales Police went to the blaze together with Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, which sent appliances from Neath, Morriston, Tumble, Port Talbot and Swansea Central to the scene, along with two tactical managers to direct operations just after 11.20am on Wednesday.

The blaze has damaged a semi-detached property in Heathland Way, Llandarcy, and smoke was seen billowing out of the windows during the fire.

The exterior of the house has been left completely black as a result of the thick smoke and heat.

Everyone inside the property was accounted for but sadly a dog died as a result of the blaze, a spokesman for the fire service has said.

An investigation is now under way into the cause of the blaze.

Neighbours in the area were spotted out on the street and expressed concern as the incident unfolded.
