Thiago pictured in Liverpool training but seven players absent ahead of Napoli

Thiago Alcantara has been pictured in full Liverpool training following a spell on the sidelines due to injury.

The Reds have been preparing for Wednesday’s Champions League opener away to Napoli with a session at their AXA Training Centre in Kirkby, and pictured for the first time since his return was the midfielder.

The Spanish international has been absent since suffering a hamstring strain during his side’s opening day draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage on August 6. Thiago could now come into contention for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s matchday squad.

Thiago's return will be a welcome boost for Klopp, who has been forced to watch on in frustration as his side picked up injury after injury since the start of the season. Fabio Carvalho became the latest name to pick up a knock during Saturday's draw with Everton.

The former Fulham man suffered a dead leg at Goodison Park and he is now a doubt for tomorrow's game at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. He did not appear to be present in the live training footage streamed by Liverpool this afternoon.

Jordan Henderson, Ibrahima Konate, Calvin Ramsay, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all remain sidelined due to various knocks. Curtis Jones was also seemingly absent from today's session.

The Reds kick-off their European campaign with a trip to Naples ahead of clashes against Ajax and Rangers. Klopp’s side will be hoping to go one better than last season after they were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the final in Paris.
