Thiago Alcantara sends message to referee after Liverpool beat Southampton

Liverpool's Thiago Alcantara was on the scoresheet for a second consecutive game after he found the back of the net in their 4-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.

The midfielder scored Liverpool's third of the game shortly before half-time with a deflected effort.

When asked on beIN Sports whether it was his goal, Thiago sent a message to the officials: “I think so, I don’t know what the referee says. It's fair [to be] mine!"

The 30-year-old was also among the goals in the Reds' 2-0 win over Porto midweek with a sensational strike.

But Thiago insists winning games is the most important thing, he added: “We feel the same as we started the season, we were pretty confident about how we were working and the results are coming with that.

“It’s important we win games, important to score the goals, but even more important to not concede them.

"So we are pretty happy with it.

“It’s just about helping the team, it doesn’t matter if it’s passing, tackling or scoring.

“At the end, for us, it’s important to win. If I can help with a goal, even better."

It was Thiago's third goal of his Liverpool career after he scored just once during his first season with the Reds.

His one goal last term came in the Premier League in this exact fixture at home to Southampton.
