Thiago Alcantara makes major Mohamed Salah claim after Liverpool beat Tottenham

Thiago Alcantara believes Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah is 'one of the best' forwards he has played with in his illustrious career.

The Reds number 11 scored twice as Jurgen Klopp's side beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Sunday to record their first away win of the season in the Premier League.

Harry Kane halved Liverpool's lead in the second half and Thiago touched on how his side 'lost control' of the match, but managed to hold on for a vital three points.

Thiago started in a midfield three alongside Fabinho and Harvey Elliott as the Reds took charge of the contest to lead 2-0 at half-time. Antonio Conte's team gave it their all in the second period, but couldn't force an equaliser.

Thiago told Matchday Live after the win about Salah: "He's one of the top forwards that I've played with in my career, it's the consistency that he has on and off the pitch. His work ethic, how he wants to help the team, how he wants to help himself. I think it's that hunger that defines him."

Thiago highlighted how well Liverpool played in the first half as they bossed Spurs in front of their own supporters.

"It was a massive game for us," added Thiago. "It was our first Premier League win away from home this season. In the first half we achieved our full potential with what the team is with the ball and without the ball. The second half was what it's been like during these first few months."

The Spaniard also touched on the difficulty of playing every three days with a World Cup just around the corner. Thiago realises how 'difficult' the situation is for the players.

"I am no-one to analyse Tottenham's way of play for this season," Thiago added. "I think they are doing amazing, you can see in the Champions League where they are.

"You can see in the league where they are as well. It's difficult, you are playing every three days with a World Cup around the corner and players could have their head 50% here and 50% there. We have to accept it's a different situation."
