'They were so much better than us': Oliver Glasner issues response to Tottenham relegation fears

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has said it is not his right to discuss if Tottenham will be relegated from the Premier League.

Spurs remain in huge trouble in their fight for survival, with Thursday night’s 3-1 home loss to Palace doing little to ease fears of falling into the Championship.

Despite taking the lead through Dominic Solanke in what felt like a monumental match in their season, things soon unravelled after Micky van de Ven was sent-off.

A brace from Ismaila Sarr and a strike from Jorgen Strand Larsen left Palace in cruise control before half time and they saw the result out in the second half to leave Spurs a single point above the bottom three.

A half-empty stadium told the whole story at full-time from a Tottenham perspective and in his post-match press conference, Glasner was asked if Spurs give him the sense of a side on the brink of relegation.

“It’s not my right to talk about Spurs,” Glasner replied.

“I talk about my team, about my players and for us it’s a great win here because I remember when we started with our second game we won 3-0 against Burnley at home two years ago.

“Then we played here and lost 3-1 and we, to be honest, had no chance to win even though we took the lead through Eberechi Eze’s free-kick.

“They were so much better than us and I see the last two games here, we have won.

“We lost at home 1-0 but I think in this game we were better than they were and I think this is just the development and the progression of Crystal Palace and that is what I am looking at.”
