These three people left a dog 'screaming in pain' and didn't get a vet

Three people appeared in court after causing a Staffordshire Bull Terrier unnecessary suffering.

Luke Butler, Rebecca Whitlow and Claire Poore neglected the dog Hugo in Speedwell Avenue, St George, between July 20 and 27.

Butler, of Mayfield Park South in Fishponds, did not seek a vet for Hugo despite him "screaming in pain", Bristol Magistrates' Court heard on January 10.

The 24-year-old admitted failing to help the dog, who suffered a prolonged flea infestation and mobility issues which were causing him pain.

Rebecca Whitlow, 19, and Claire Poore, 38, both of Speedwell Avenue, pleaded guilty to the same offence.

Poore must do 100 unpaid work hours and pay £390.

All defendants are banned from keeping a dog for five years.
