The top doctor's surgeries in Nottinghamshire - according to patients - have been revealed.

The results show that Hounsfield Surgery in Sutton-on-Trent is the best GP practice in Nottinghamshire for a second year in a row.

NHS England has released the latest finding of its GP Patient Survey - a huge ongoing poll involving more than a million people a year.

It covers everything from the trust patients have in their doctor, to the attitude of reception staff and how easy it is to get an appointment.

Seven key areas are rated: how easy it is to get an appointment, whether opening times are convenient, whether people trust the GP, whether the GP listens to them, whether the GP treats them with care and concern, whether receptionists are helpful, and how patients rate their overall experience.

Surgeries which had fewer than 50 responses were excluded on the basis that the sample was too small to draw reliable conclusions.

The Hounsfield Surgery in Sutton-on-Trent has beaten 140 other practices across the county to claim the number one spot as the patients’ choice in the region.

The Manor Surgery in Beeston was second and The Valley Surgery in Chilwell was third.

More than 98 per cent of patients at Hounsfield Surgery felt their doctor listened to them properly, while a similar proportion said they were treated with care and concern.

One hundred percent said reception staff were helpful, and 98 per cent said their overall experience of the surgery was good.

Among the GP surgeries in the top 10 was The Mapperley Park Medical Centre, which closed on June 21 after the retirement of its GP, Dr Mark Stevens.

More than 92 percent of patients at the surgery thought their experience was good and 100 percent thought the receptionists were helpful.

This is despite the fact the Care Quality Commission had branded it inadequate.

Other surgeries on the list include the St George's Medical Practice in West Bridgford, East Bridgford Medical Centre and Sherrington Park Medical centre in Sherwood.
