Theresa May is backing TV star Lorraine Kelly in her feud with Tory leadership loser Esther McVey.
A close ally of the outgoing Prime Minister branded the former work and pensions secretary a “complete cow” and a “nightmare”.
A row broke out on Monday’s Good Morning Britain when Kelly came on to preview her own show.

Presenter Piers Morgan asked her if she remembered McVey, who was on the show, from their GMTV days.
Her reply was: “Yeah, yes I do. Right, coming up at 8.30...”
The Liverpudlian MP later said the pair did not get on because she had been promoted above Kelly to star with Eamonn Holmes in the 90s.

But the Scots TV legend said that was “nonsense” and that she was opposed to McVey’s negative attitudes on LGBT rights.
Yesterday, a source close to May said: “Esther is a nightmare. Theresa is backing Lorraine.”
The insider claimed the PM was “cross” when McVey helped force a Cabinet vote on her Brexit deal.
The source added: “She’s just a complete cow.”
McVey, Andrea Leadsom and Mark Harper were eliminated from the contest on Thursday.
In an apparent swipe at Johnson, the insider said May was “about to be replaced with an egotistical s****”.
