There's a New Triumph Scrambler In Town, But Only If You Live In This One Place

Ever since word of the first two Triumph 400s hit the streets, it seems like riders around the world have been intrigued by them. Unsurprisingly, the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X were pretty much overnight sales successes, with manufacturing partner Bajaj noting that demand was so strong, it nearly couldn't keep up with orders at first. Then it adjusted production to meet the overwhelming demand, and was on track to sell 18,000 units in Q3 of 2023

Since the first two 400s clearly struck a chord with riders, the question wasn't if there would be more; it was when. If you've been wondering what the next 400 would be, we're about to quell your curiosity. Friends, take a look at the brand new Triumph Scrambler 400 XC.

While the engine and basic underpinnings are the same, there are plenty of important changes to distinguish the XC from the X (Charli or no Charli). The first thing you might notice is the switch from the alloy wheels of the X to a set of nice spoked wheels for the XC. They're paired with tubeless tires, but the wheels remain the same size as on the X, with a 19-inch unit up front and a 17-incher in the back.

Many other specs also remain the same, including seat height (835mm), rake and trail (23.2 degrees, 108mm), a 13-liter fuel tank, suspension (43mm USD front fork, gas monoshock with external reservoir in the back and 150mm front and rear wheel travel), as well as a 320mm fixed front brake disc with a four-piston radial caliper and a 230mm rear brake disc with a single piston caliper.

What's different besides the addition of spoked wheels? A color-matched flyscreen that goes with each of the three available colorways for the XC: Racing Yellow, Granite, or Vanilla White. You'll also find a color-matched high front mudguard over the front wheel, an aluminum sump guard, radiator guard, lower engine bars, and a little scrambler-style number plate as part of the side bodywork on the bike.

And if you're wondering about the handguards and headlight grille on the X, don't worry; you'll find those still intact on the XC as well. Triumph didn't take accessories away for the new XC; it added them.

To be completely clear, Triumph states at the moment, that this model is only available in India. Whether that will change in the future is unclear, but for the moment, at least, Indian riders can rejoice in the knowledge that they've got a really cool new addition to the Triumph 400 lineup in their backyard.

What's the price difference between the Triumph Scrambler 400 X and the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC? At the time of writing, the Scrambler 400 X starts at ₹ 2,67,207.00, which works out to about US $3,122. Opt for the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC, and the starting price is ₹ 2,94,147.00, or about US $3,437.

Will Triumph's newest member of the 400 family prove to be as popular as the first two 400s? Watch this space.
