‘There isn’t anyone better, end in tears’ – Spurs fans split over Mauricio Pochettino return

Tottenham Hotspur could potentially soon be welcoming former boss Mauricio Pochettino back to the club.

The Argentine only left North London 18 months ago, receiving the sack from Daniel Levy and eventually being replaced by Jose Mourinho.

The latter did not last all too long at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium though and after a dreadful start to the 2020/21 campaign, was replaced by former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason on an interim basis.

In the time since, Pochettino has taken the reins at French giants Paris Saint-Germain, winning the first trophy of his managerial career in the form of the Coupe de France.

However, football.london understands that talks between Spurs and Pochettino over a sensational return have taken place, with the Argentine also thought to be interested in a potential return to the club.

The 49-year-old is of course an extremely popular figure in North London.

Following his arrival from Southampton in 2014, he led Spurs to three consecutive top-three finishes in the Premier League, whilst also masterminding an historic run to the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.

Of course, talk of a potential return to Tottenham in the summer got fans talking and their opinion seemed split over whether it is something that they would like to see.

They of course voiced their opinion on social media following confirmation of the news on Thursday morning.

Pochettino has just one year left to run on the original contract that he penned at PSG having been appointed in January.

football.london also understands that Erik ten Hag remains a candidate for the managerial hot seat.

The Dutchman remains with current club Ajax but is interested by the Spurs job.
