The Republican practice of attributing their own failures to the Democrats is nearly as old as civilisation itself. During his second term as President of the United States, Donald Trump and the GOP have, on multiple occasions, blamed the Democrats to deflect responsibility from themselves.
It’s hardly surprising that Republicans are once again playing to their strengths while responding to questions about issues they should be accountable for. In a recent interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Republican Senator Bernie Moreno essentially claimed that Trump and his administration had not taken any steps to replace Obamacare during his first presidency, nor has he done anything in his current (second) term, which began at the start of this year.
Moreno called Obamacare a “total and complete disaster,” but asked Collins to direct the next Democrat guest to discuss their plan for fixing it after she asked him about the Republicans’ strategies. He reinforced his argument by stating that Obama was president for four years, followed by Trump and Biden, which allowed Collins to point out that Trump had a full term and is currently in office, giving him sufficient time to propose a healthcare plan to counter Obamacare.
Those who observed Senator Bernie Moreno’s absurd statements couldn’t help but laugh. Many took to social media, including X (formerly Twitter), to express their opinions. Under a video of the interaction shared on the platform, one individual wrote:
“Collins is right 100%. Trump stated his first term I have a plan, we will reveal in 2 weeks, and then another 2 weeks, and then supposed showed a book of the plan to Leslie Stahl, and we will reveal in 2 weeks. 15 Years later and there is STILL NO PLAN.”
Another person wrote:
“..It’s been 15 years, 70 repeal attempts, and still no Republican health care plan. Every time they’re asked for solutions, they just point fingers at Democrats.”
