There are no demons on the wicket, says Jasprit Bumrah

NEW DELHI: India's experienced seamer, Jasprit Bumrah, showcased his brilliance on day two of the second Test against England at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Bumrah's six-wicket haul, including dismissals of key batters Joe Root, Ollie Pope, Johnny Bairstow, and Ben Stokes, played a pivotal role in bundling out England for 253, giving India a significant 143-run first innings lead.

Scorecard: India vs England, 2nd Test

Speaking about the pitch, Bumrah dismissed concerns, stating, "The wicket is not doing a lot. There are no demons on the wicket."

He praised young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for his "brilliant innings," which kept India in the game.

"The odd ball might turn, yes the odd ball might swing. But I feel the wicket is really good. Hopefully, we can capitalize tomorrow," Bumrah added in the post-match press conference, emphasizing India's optimism about the favorable conditions.

Bumrah achieved multiple milestones during the match. He became the fastest Indian fast bowler to reach 150 Test wickets, accomplishing the feat in just 6781 deliveries. Additionally, he surpassed legendary Kapil Dev by dismissing England's third, fourth, fifth, and sixth batters in an innings, a record held since 1983.

After Bumrah's heroics, India ended day two at 28/0, with captain Rohit Sharma (13) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (15) remaining unbeaten. With a lead of 171 runs, India are poised to capitalize on their dominant position in the remainder of the Test.

Earlier in the match, India posted a respectable total of 396 in their first innings, largely driven by Jaiswal's historic double century. The hosts aim to capitalize on their commanding lead as the Test progresses.
