Theft suspect flee away with police vehicle, nabbed later in Yamunanagar

YAMUNANAGAR: A man fled away with dial 112 emergency response vehicle (ERV) vehicle of police in Haryana's Yamunanagar district on Monday.

The vehicle was later recovered by police, but the accused managed to flee away with its key.

However, the accused identified as Daud Khan of Shadipur village in Yamunanagar district, was arrested by the special staff team of district police on Tuesday. He will be produced before the court on Wednesday, said the police.

As per the information, a team of district police deputed on dial 112 ERV was engaged on duty at an event in Khurdi village on Monday, when the accused fled away with the police vehicle.

Yamunanagar DSP Kanwaljit Singh said that the ERV team was engaged in resolving a dispute of a couple when the accused fled away. He said the vehicle was later recovered from Sector 18, HUDA in Jagadhri but he took away the key.

Meanwhile, a case of theft under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the accused at Yamunanagar Sadar police station on Monday.
