The ‘world’s biggest Afrobeats festival’ is coming to Miami. Here are some of the acts

MIAMI — Miami, get ready for an Afrobeats take over.

The inaugural Afro Nation Festival Miami will take place Memorial Day weekend at loanDepot Park. Burna Boy and Wizkid will headline May 27 and May 28, respectively, with help from several prominent artists including Rema, Asake and Uncle Waffles. Additional artists are expected to be announced soon, according to Afro Nation.

Afro Nation’s Miami edition will also have something new: a “Piano People Stage” where some of amapiano’s hottest acts including Uncle Waffles, Major League DJz and Focalistic will be keeping the yanos dancing all night long. A zulu word meaning “the pianos,” amapiano is one of the hottest genres coming out South Africa that utilizes elements of house music and jazz.

Billed as the “world’s biggest Afrobeats festival,” Afro Nation launched in 2019 and has since held shows around the world including Portugal, Puerto Rico and Ghana.

This will be Burna Boy’s second show in Miami after making his 305 debut during the Tipsy Music Festival during the weekend of Miami Broward Carnival 2022.

Tickets will be available at 10 a.m. Friday but only for those who have signed up at usa.afronation.com.
