Arsenal’s opening day win over Fulham in the Premier League saw a number of players take centre stage.
Star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged his first goal of the season, while new addition Gabriel also got on the score sheet on his debut.
But it was fellow new boy Willian who shone on his first league outing for the Gunners at Craven Cottage.
The Brazilian provided the assist for Gabriel’s header in the early moments in the first half, while also set up Alexander Lacazette’s opener and Aubameyang shortly before the hour mark.
Willian’s debut was so impressive that some Arsenal fans pointed out a statistic that will certainly catch the eye.
The 32-year-old’s three assists, which were achieved in less than an hour, put him just one behind the total achieved by Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba last term.
Pogba contributed four assists in the top flight last season in 16 league appearances, while Willian already has three to his name in one.
Safe to say, if Willian continues the form from his debut into the rest of the season, then Arsenal will have a great player on their hands.
